[quote user="unicon"]I agree and understand how important is moving the speakers to find the symmetrical impulse from both channels BUT in microscopic movement we mainly correct the vibration of speakers which indeed effects the whole things.in m...

My room, is 16 to 17 feet wide, 27 to 28 feet long by 12 to 14 feet high with all walls splayed, with a combination of absorption and diffusion on the walls. All electronics are fed electricity by three pure power units originally recommended by Rom...

Lots has been written already about tube replacement, but I want to mention my recent experience when replacing the 6C33C output tubes (V2). I had the previous tubes in for only about 1 year; in this case I estimate about 300 hours, althou...

Hello Roman and friends,Here's a first post from me, to say hi and let you know why I've joined and perhaps ask a few questions...I'm building a pair of loudspeakers, with close to zero experience with loudspeaker building, hoping that the ...

Here is a VERY interesting paper http://www.anstendig.org/Stereo.htmlSTEREO: A MISUNDERSTANDINGTHE THEORY, SOUND-SYSTEMS, AND PROBLEMS OF HEARINGThere is a common misconception that the addition of stereophonic sound-reproduction was the necessary, c...

Antonio,You should expect to hear just the music. In explaining the effect of this process in words, I am in a simmilar position to Romy with his Melquiades amplifiers. Most speakers sound just fine, to those who are used to them. We have, in our sens...

Let's see "series crossovers"... hmmm, very interesting. Something to look into? Where can I get more information? Should I contact an audio tech to design one? Can I send the current crossovers somewhere for evaluation or do I also have send the...

Part of setting up a system is listening to both channels independently, they measure the same and sound the same, but individually with a lower volume and punch, and of course no stereo effect." the audio window should get larger and larger, unti...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]If I position Macondo across the room then I would have

I already have some PY500 (it's a sign =))) ) and I have 836 too.I read about Malquiade amplifier threads. So it seem peoples on this forum like horn speakers (I love them too) and are looking for fast transient response, it's exactly what I like. But ...

I appreciate the suggestions on the ceiling of the room; in my room the ceiling is about twelve feet tall and it opens on the side to another room with a taller skylight, so I do not know if this is a problem or not. It may be worth investigati...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Well, “everything is a compromise” it is true, but when you talk about compromises you are talking about purchasing decisions not about abstract sound. So, I really do not know where ML1 would be in your scale of your compr...

I have had similar impressions to other speakers using these drivers. For example I found the top of the line Avalon Eidolon diamond to be similarly colorless and lifeless. Also a pair of Vaic speakers (designed by the guy from Lumenwhite...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]It is a strange felling I have after reading it again. I feel like somebody cooked a beautiful and superbly testy meal, using the most refine cooking techniques and the best ingredients and then, a person took this entire m...

Was invited over to Romy's today. Spent two hours going through recordings. First, I hear differently from him. At my age,76, I had a hearing test that showed oversensitivity in the 1000 to 6000 hZ range, and quick drop off above 10,000 Hz.Second, I ...

I was there and heard it a while and then came back the next day to see if what I heard was true... it was.I talked with Allen Sides who was there showing his speakers and having a good time. It is a 3 way speaker, It has a 1" JBL compression driver...

The closest to date I overlapped cones and horns myself was waaaay back in my time with Altec A7s. But I have since then and up to now heard many fine "hand-offs" from cone to horn, and my current project speakers hand-off cone to (very fast/short) h...

Another Industry Staple is using a Flagship as something like a "spinner" attached to the hook on the end of a fishing line. With the Yvette roll out we hear for the first time that - up to now - Wilson's smaller speakers were - intentionally - ...

Amir, I have shared that I quite liked the (original) Audiopax amps I have heard. Whatever they claim, they do sound right to me. Although I have never played much with a de Lima amp I have played quite a bit with most of my own phono stages, pre-amp...

[quote user="Paul S"]I think some of the best horns I ever heard were reconstructed "theater" speakers that had their amps wired directly to the voice coils, just as you describe, above. This was my first notion of the term "dedicate...

Zako, you might enjoy the thread about the evils of hysteresis induced by output transformers, where the (so-called)absence of output transformers is supposed to be the "solution". In any case, your posts remind me of this gambit, more than a little...

One of the most frustrating things in hi-fi, IMO, is using the wrong speakers for your room and/or the wrong speaker/amp pairing. It is impossible to get anything right or to even get started if you don't get this right (enough). For exam...

What speakers are your using? The “4R at about 80 Hz before going back up their average 8 Ohms at 30 Hz” is not good for SETs. I prefer to have 16R and do not let it to drop below 12R. Lamm is quite fixable with loading, probably because ...

Hi Romy,It is with great interest that I frequently visit your site and enjoy your observations on audio-moronity. While I have to admit that I am at a loss wether I could be qualified for being an audio-moron, I can live with the fact that others ob...

No, the speakers like Altec 19 have time miss-aligned drivers. The majority of 3-4 way horn speakers with oken/jensn as a bass that you might see in internet also very seldom time-aligned but it is excusable as the DIY-audio people are mostly Morons ...
